Residential Plumbing Services

Marco Plumbing professionals are certified, insured and experienced in all types of residential plumbing services – from new build installation to water proofing, inspections, repairs and maintenance, including:

  • Water Proofing

    Exterior basement waterproofing

Waterproofing foundation walls from the outside can protect your home’s foundation from leaks. To do this the foundation wall has to be excavated all the way down to the footing, cleaned, and inspected. Basement waterproofing from the outside protects the walls from contact with water or moisture. When performing exterior waterproofing, the Marco Plumbing team gains access to the foundation drain to replace it and can also check the connection of the weeping tile to the drain or sump to make sure it is working properly.

  • Interior basement waterproofing

Waterproofing basement walls from the inside is a good option when there is excessive moisture in the soil, if the basement is very deep, or when the neighbour’s property is located nearby. To perform foundation waterproofing from the inside, the basement wall has to be exposed and the floor excavated along the foundation walls for new weeping tile pipe to be installed. Internal waterproofing protects the basement from water coming through the foundation wall and also from ground water collecting under the concrete slab. Internal basement waterproofing may help homes with lowered basements to remain dry and free of mold and mildew.

Marco Plumbing offers a 25-year warranty on waterproofing services, including:

    • Leaky basement waterproofing
    • Crawlspace waterproofing
    • Foundation wall repair
    • Inside or outside weeping tile repair
    • Sump pump installation and repair
    • Window well installation and repair
    • Window well drains

Have the experts at Marco Plumbing inspect your basement, and advise a basement waterproofing solution that is best for you.

  • Frozen Pipe Thawing

Thankfully, frozen pipes are only a seasonal issue. In Canada though, that season can last a long time. The pipes in your home can freeze when they aren’t properly insulated and when temperatures are consistently below zero for a few days or more.

There are several methods that can be used to minimize this risk or help you respond quickly in the event that your pipes do freeze.

    • Make sure you’ve properly drained all outside water pipes/hose faucets using their shut off valve to bleed out water remaining in the line.
    • Insulate your pipes and water lines where they might be most vulnerable: in basements, attics, garages and crawl spaces.
    • Wrap towels or allow a Marco Plumbing professional to apply pipe insulation.
    • Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinet doors open to allow freer circulation of warn, indoor air.
    • During a deep freeze, run water at a slight, constant trickle at a temperature above zero degrees.
    • If your pipes freeze, turn off the water at the shut off the valve.
    • Turn on the faucet and use a hair dryer to warm your frozen pipes, working back from the drain towards the blockage. Do NOT use an open flame on a frozen pipe.

The Marco Plumbing team can assist with insulation and preparation to help you avoid freezing and has several trucks equipped with technologically advanced pipe thawing units that can un-freeze your frozen pipes quickly and safely.

  • Drain and Sewer Repairs

Using a variety of tried and true methods and techniques, Marco Plumbing offers complete drain and sewer services – from drain clogs to sewer line repair and prevention.

    Drain Snake Rooter

An electric drain snake is used to clear and clean clogged drains. A long, flexible metal cable is led down a drain until the spinning head reaches a clog and clears it. If there is significant blockage (i.e. from a tree root or other significant item) Marco Plumbing uses a commercial-grade drain snake to tackle the problem.

    Excavation/Pipe Replacement

In some cases, the permanent solution to your drain problem may be a complete drain pipe replacement through excavation. Marco Plumbing approaches excavations carefully, ensuring minimal obstruction and interruption. The Marco Plumbing team may also suggest that your situation is better suited to “No-Dig” pipe replacement technology or drain hydro-jetting.

    Hydro Jetting

Snaking or Rootering removes drain blockages, which creates a temporary opening in a pipe. Hydro Jetting uses high-pressure water to scrub away years of accumulated build-up on the inside walls of your pipes. There is no better way, short of replacing them completely, to get your pipes draining as well as the day they were installed.

Marco Plumbing proudly uses Jetting products for hydro jetting services and recommends regularly scheduled hydro jettings as part of your home maintenance practice.

    Trenchless No Dig Technology

Trenchless “No-Dig” technology is a proven, permanent solution that allows you to fix drain pipes, with minimal damage to your property. This technique usually involves the application of a pipe-liner or flexible tube that is pulled into the tube and inflated from within.

City of Toronto Drain Grants, Subsidies and Rebates

The City of Toronto may provide support and subsidies for work that can lower your home’s risk of flood.  Contact your local municipality to learn more about the available subsidies – 80% of the invoiced costs up to a maximum of $1,250 including eligible labour, materials, permit and taxes – and contact a plumbing professional like Marco plumbing, licensed by the City of Toronto for an assessment.

  • Camera Inspections

In-line inspections using video cameras allow access deep into the pipes to help in determining the cause and location of the problem while also identifying potential challenges or obstructions including: roots, broken tiles, bad mortar connections, inline traps, negative grade sloping, pipe sagging or cracking, offset joints, pipe cracks, and sludge.

Having a plumbing professional conduct a camera inspection of your pipes – whether in your current home in a home you are preparing to buy – is a proactive step towards good plumbing health in your home.

  • Water Service Upgrades

Municipalities update water meters as required and will often also request that water lines be updated from galvanized to copper pipes to minimize leaks and health concerns from lead piping but is at the homeowner’s expense. The Marco Plumbing team can perform your main water line upgrades which may also improve water pressure because of better fitting pipes.

  • Water Heater Repairs/Installs

When something goes awry with your water heater, you need it fixed fast! Whether a repair or a new water heater installation, the Marco Plumbing team can help, servicing all residential water heater issues in Durham Region and Toronto.

  • High Pressure Drain and Sewer Jetting

Using a high-pressure water technology called Hydro Jetting coupled with other techniques like snake rooting, Marco Plumbing can clear build-up of fats, oils, and other debris that will thicken over time, causing blockages, disruptions, or even drain back-ups. This service, can be performed as necessary in response to an issue or preventatively as part of your home’s regular maintenance plan.

  • Back Water Valve

Installing a back water valve in your mainline to the sewer or at the lowest drain within your home can reduce your risk of sewer back up incidents as they are designed to restrict water flow except in the direction it is set to (i.e. out).
